The NSS and Indian Red Cross Society organized a cancer awareness event at Yavanika on 4th February, inaugurated by Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Shalini Rajneesh IAS. The program featured esteemed speakers such as Dr. Vijaya Kumar, Vice Chancellor of Yenepoya Deemed to be University and former Director of Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology, and Dr. MK Ramesh, Vice Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. They, along with experts like Dr. Prof. Vishal Rao from HCG Hospitals, Dr. Ashwini, and Dr. Indira (DHO), addressed the gathering, highlighting cancer prevention, early detection, and public health's role in battling the disease.
More than 900 NSS and Youth Red Cross volunteers participated in the Jatha and program, helping spread cancer awareness. Pamphlets and masks were distributed to all participants, ensuring the key messages reached the broader community.
The event was highly impactful, emphasizing the need for continued education and action against cancer through community engagement.
